The destinations of our 2024 South America journey.
Un viaje al rincón más lejano del mundo
Tierra del Fuego - Patagonia - Atacama
Early 2024, we took a journey to the furthest corners of the world for us.
From the ice-blue glaciers in the far south of Tierra del Fuego, through the endless pampas and towering granite peaks of south Patagonia to the Atacama desert, the driest desert in the world in the north of Chile.
In this web gallery a random selection of our most favorite shots of these destinations in Argentina and Chile.

Tierra del Fuego - El fin del mundo
With a zodiac to the 1.5 miles wide tongue of the Porter Glacier that meanders its way from the peaks of the Darwin Mountain Range in the heart of Tierra del Fuego.
Our journey started in Tierra del Fuego, the archipelago at the southernmost point of South America, shared by Argentina and Chile.
The area is known for its rugged, untouched and almost inaccessible landscapes with deep fjords and immense glaciers.
This arctic, desolate region, which we discovered by expedition ship, literally feels like the end of the world.

Magdalena Island lies about halfway between Tierra del Fuego and the Chilean mainland. Crowned by a distinctive lighthouse, the island is inhabited by an immense colony of Magellanic penguins.
Patagonia
Lago Pehoe sits at the centre of Torres del Paine National Park, and from it you have wonderful views of the Paine Grande mountain and the Cuernos (horns) del Paine.
Patagonia is a vast and breathtaking region at the southern tip of South America, shared by Argentina and Chile. Known for its dramatic landscapes, it features towering granite peaks, expansive glaciers, and wide-open pampas. The regio is home to iconic national parks such as Torres del Paine in Chile and Los Glaciares in Argentina. Its rugged terrain made it for us a paradise for hiking, trekking, and 4WD camper exploration!

Atacama Desert
The Atacama Desert is located in northern Chile. It spans a region from roughly 600 to 1,000 kilometers in length, extending from the southern border of Peru, the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Andes mountains to the east.
Lifeless pampas, desolate high plateaus, jagged rock formations, vast salt flats, and a chain of active volcanoes dominate the landscape.
The Atacama Desert is the driest non-polar desert in the world, with some areas never recording any rainfall.
